Protecting Endangered Sea Turtles | Farglory Ocean Park Teams Up with Hualien County Government to Establish Rescue Station

This collaboration was personally signed by Hualien County Magistrate Xu Zhenwei, who emphasized that public-private cooperation is the most effective way to promote marine conservation, hoping that more enterprises will invest in protecting the blue territory. Farglory Ocean Park General Manager Shen Jianshao pointed out that sea turtles are a first-class endangered species in Taiwan, but due to inconvenient transportation in the eastern region, there has been a long-term lack of local rescue facilities. In the past, they had to be sent to the north or south for treatment, often delaying the golden rescue opportunity. The ocean park has a veterinary team, rescue vehicles, tanks, and medical equipment, and after evaluation by experts and scholars, it has been confirmed to meet the needs for rescue, playing the role of "Eastern Sea Turtle Lifeguard." In addition to establishing rescue points, the ocean park also plans to convey knowledge to the public through educational displays, interactive courses, and conservation lectures, such as "Why do sea turtles strand?" and "How can humans avoid interfering with them?" This aims to ensure that conservation goes beyond rescue and takes root in everyday attitudes. This project echoes the "Hand in Hand to Protect the Ocean" action promoted by the ocean park since 2020—from beach cleanups and coral health checks to bringing the "Marine Sustainable Conservation Train" to Taipei and Hualien campuses for the first time in 2024, cultivating nearly a thousand schoolchildren's understanding of marine ecology. Now, the connection from education to actual rescue allows "coexisting with the ocean" to no longer be just a slogan, but a realized action.
